H&G Dowel Pins, BS1804
Hardened & Ground (H&G) Dowels pins are available in metric and inch sizing. Metric are produced to BS1804 Part 2 Grade 1 to a precise interference fit 'm6' tolerance band and inch sizes are produced to BS1804 Part 1 Grade 1 to a precise interference fit.
Our standard metric size range is from 3mm up to 25mm diameter with the majority of sizes being produced with chamfers at both ends although we do offer some sizes, more typically above 12mm diameter, with a radius at one end.
Metric sizes are offered with an 'm6' tolerance band which is explained more clearly in the chart below.

Inch sizes are offered across the range with a diameter tolerance of +0.0001" to +0.0003". Our standard Inch size range is from 1/8" up to 1" diameter with the majority of sizes being produced with chamfers at both ends although we do offer some sizes, more typically above 1/2" diameter, with a radius at one end – if you have a preference for end configuration please indicate this at the point of enquiry.
Our preferred material for H&G Dowels has more recently moved towards a Through Hardened Alloy 1.3505 (100Cr6) hardened to HRC58-62 rather than Case Hardened Mild Steel simply due to customer demand.
Sizes outside of this range can be produced to order and some stainless steel Grade 1 and 2 pins are held in stock, please enquire for further information.
